They WILL fit on. Private message Sir Rupert Hobo, he has Mustang/Ford rims on his FC and they fit fine... They will protrude slightly on the front's but not terribly bad.

Good luck,
-Markus

17x8 or 17x9 in the subject you have by 17x9 and in the topic you have 17x8..

There are a lot of threads about this. I'm sure the stock Cobra wheels are 17x8 also like the GTs. I know the early 90's where anyways. Just need 235/40/17 for the front tires

sorry 17 by 9

You need to look at the offset. I think they will fit fine in the back but not in the front .. Whats the offset?

Zer0 Cylinder 05-03-04 10:45 PM

17 x 8's fit with the right tires.......there are 17x9's with 6.72 backspacing i believe.....i dont THINK they will fit......but ask reted over in the suspension/wheels/tires section.

so if what you beleive is correct what would have to be changed?
do i also need longer studs?

they are +26 offset

With that size and offset it'll be 9mm closer to the spring and 17mm further out towards the fender than the 17x8's which have an offset of 30mm. With my GT wheels (17x8) and 225's in the front I can just fit a finger between the tire and the spring, so with 9mm less you'll either be very close to the spring, or they won't fit, depending on the tire size. Apparently they'll fit ok in the back, I've seen a pic of that once.

with that offset they will fit in front but they will be sticking out alot. the 8 inch will fit, but the wheel well will be full. it will be real close if not on the outside edge.

MrSparkle 05-04-04 12:53 PM

they'll fit, but you might want to consider getting your fenders rolled and some spacers if it fits too close for comfort.
