wierd question about fog light install...
Ok, First of all, I trusted the 240sxforums for the diagram, but im trusting you guys with the technical questions, (the 240 forums are a bunch of ricers.)
Heres the diagram I used http://www.240sxforums.com/forums/sh...ght=fog+lights My 240sx came with fog lights that werent wired, now they are... but heres the deal When the ignition and lights are off, than i turn the ignition on, than the lights, they go on fine, untill i turn them off, they blow the cigar lighter fuse (the ignition hot)..... if the fog lights are on and ignition is off, and i turn the ignition on, the fuse blows... I would really apprichaite some help with this, thanks alot guys. -Adam |
well i cant sign if on those forums,, but it sounds like you have a bad ground or your running 2 hot wires into each other.. like you crossed a wire.. i would go over your wiring again .. when i do aftermarket lights i wire the relay to the headlamp switch so when the parking lights come on the fogs will then be turned on ( if the fog light switch in the "on" position) and then i run the power to the lights directly from the secondary power terminal from the battery or the battery directly depending on the difficulty of the job.. i think its law here in ct that your fogs can only come on with parking lights. but i dont think that anyone actually enforces it .

Here's how you should wire it. Get a 4-pin relay, a fuse, and a switch. Wire it all up like this, following the pin numbers on the relay:
Pin 30: Straight from the battery via the fuse. Pin 85: Connect to one of the front park light wires (red with black stripe). Pin 86: Run wire into cabin to switch, ground the switch's other teminal. Pin 87: To foglights. They will only run if both the park lights and cabin switch are on. |
Sounds like a ground to me.
alwayssideways your fogs can come on anytime, but in my truck they turn off with the high beams, thats fom the factory. |
