Wierd electrical problem, this one's good.

I've read this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...turn+key+power

and I still couldn't figure out this problem. Let me state my situation to begin.

All my lights work, and etcetera, but when I turn my key to the "start" position, everything turns off, like I blew a fuse.

Here's the strange part: For about 5 minutes or so, I have absolutely no power, the headlights don't work, brake lights don't go on, no interior lights. Nothing.
After that 5 minutes, everything turns back on, I get back all my lights, and everything seems normal, no blown fuses, no blown anything.

Everytime I turn the key to "start", the same thing above happens. Anyone have any ideas? I'm gonna try to tackle it again tomorrow.

Bad ignition switch?

Would that explain why I just lose all power for 5 mins, then it all comes back on?

How does your power come back? Do you sit there with the key still turned to acc in the ignition and power comes back after sitting like that? Or is it after removing the keys and waiting a while, then trying again? Or something else?

It's both. It happens either with the keys in or out. This is very wierd.

5 minute thing sounds like an immobilser or something?

MaczPayne 04-14-07 11:13 AM

Immobilizer as in.... aftermarket alarm system? Where would I find this? The alarm system I just took out was a Viper.
