Why put a restrictor in the turbo oil inlet line?
Why a oil inlet restrictor in the Turbo oil inlet line??
I'm talking about one like the one in this thread: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=OIL The stock does not have one so why would you need one for a *hybrid* turbo? Or another way to put it: What would cause the *hybrid* turbo (say a HT18 hybrid), to pass oil past the *pistorn ring* or carbon seal whereas there is no problem with the stock HT18-2S dealing with the oil pressure? |

it shouldnt need a restrictor. its the same cartridge and wheel/shaft as the stock turbo. only thing you're changing with a hybrid is the compressor wheel, backplate and compresor housing....

yes ive heard of alot of people recomending a restricter as full oil pressure will cause some smoking in the bnr hybrids( my freind saw this on his stage 2)
alot of the upgraded ones use the 360deg thrust bearing? i wonder if that has anything to do with it? |

The link was a weak link. The one above requires searching the site using the word Restrictor. I was reading several threads about turbos and adding a restrictor to cut down on the oil pressure going to the turbo supposedly to keep the turbo seals from blowing out/blowing oil. |
