why is this doing this??? oil pellet related
 

was going to install my oil pellet and everything was going well until I went to loosen the main pulley bolt. I had the clutch in via 2x4 and went to loosen the bolt and the pulley still spun. is there something I should be doing different?

You need to stop the engine from turning. Put a strap wrench on the front hub, or bolt a piece of metal to the front hub and brace to the inner fender to keep it from turning.

Alternatively, use your 19MM socket and a long breaker bar to hold the front nut stationary (brace the breaker bar against the inner fender) and blip the throttle VERY SLIGHTLY.

This bolt is tightened down to 90 FT/LBs, with lots of Loctite and fine threads.

use a long breaker bar and brace it like Aaron said, just blipping the throttle. It is notorious for giving people problems.

pressing the clutch pedal down don't do nothing but seperate the clutch and flywheel. Won't stop the flywheel from rotating.

I would get some air tools, that front nut is a bitch without them.

Blah - I tried all the cheapo methods to remove that bolt, broke a socket in the process too. Then I got smart and drove it to the local gas station and paid the guy $5 to break it loose with the proper tools. Piece o' cake after that. Don't forget to put loctite on it when you put it back on.

Repeat after me: There is no substitute for proper tools.

thanks fo rthe help, got it in and all is good now. fc3s.org instruction didn't mention every detail. took me a while to figure out how to tighten it back up.
