Who's using NITROUS,

Ok i want to know who is using nos and how they are going about it.:blue:
----what type of kit----
----how big a shot-----
----The manufacturer---
---- and the mods ----
All i need is a simple 50 shot. to cool the intercooler and give me some more power.

fc3s.org has done it on an NA. Might want to ask him or go to his site. Not too many people have done it to 7s though. Think crispeed has though, he must be hes like in the 9s :D Apparently he "was" in the 9s.

I was using a 125 shot on my 86 N/A. I had a carburetor conversion. Plumbed it directly into the upper manifold(wet shot). I had the Nitrous Express Import EFI system. I would not suggest as large a shot on a FI engine unless it is ported. But a normal 13b without ANY mods can handle up to a 75 shot. Past that you should get some more fuel and retard the timing before going to a higher shot.

What were you running in the 1/4 with that?

fastrotaries 11-15-01 03:47 PM

WOW......
that's a lot of the laughing gas. :bigthumb: What were your times?
I know that the quicker guys all use nitrous...I.E. Ari Yallon, Stephen Kan, Adam Sawuratari, Able Ibarra.....the list goes on. These guys do it to help with turbo lag. but on the Street... who's using the bottle to help take down some of the quicker V8's
:dragster:

Ryde _Or_Die 11-15-01 05:05 PM

I would definitely would have been using it by now if my didn't f**k up on me. Really sucks :(

Poindexter10thae 11-15-01 07:49 PM

I never got to run the car on the track, but one of my buddies had one of those g-force or g-tech, whatever the hell you call it. We used that to test my 1/4 time, with a busted oil seal and blowing blue smoke the g-tech thing registered a 12.73, So im guessing my actuall time is somewhere in the low 13's.
My buddy has a 93 5.0 that runs 13.2, he swears up and down that my car is a 11 sec car, but I will have to test the same setup on a fresh motor once i get another FC.

the_glass_man 11-15-01 07:56 PM

I use it all the time at parties!
:D

Nitrous

I'm using a Nitrous Express wet EFI system on my '90 GTU. Right now I have the 50 jets in, I've had some problems with it, but I think I have them worked out now. My 6-ports were closed so I wasn't getting enough fuel at high rpm's. I'm going to the track Saturday, will see whats happens. Here are my mods:

weapon-r intake
Jet V-force
Crane HI-6 on leading coil
Centerforce Dual friction clutch
Pacesetter header
Dyno max Cat-back system
air pump activated 6-ports
Jacobs 8.5 mm wires
Nitrous EXpress wet EFI system
Walbro Fuel pump

Alright my man go get em and let us know what you think....an any troubles we may encounter:dragster:

PlayinW/Wankel 11-16-01 10:39 PM

what type of internal modifications need to be done if any, i have an 88 se with 107,000 miles on it, do you guys think nitrous would kill it. I have never done a compression test I guess I should do that. Can a system be put on a completely stock car?
There are some guys that need a little whoopin' put on them cause they think they are hot shit.:D thanks

fastrotaries 11-17-01 03:07 AM

For any one who wants to use NOS, do a compression test first and then make sure your system flows freely...i.e. intake and the cats aren't clogged. (it's more than likely a safe assumption that your pre-cats are clogged). AND DEFINITELY A WET SYSTEM for all fuel injected 2nd gens.. check out www.fc3s.org

PlayinW/Wankel 11-17-01 09:18 PM

If i have good compression and I get nitrous should I expect a shorter engine life if i only use it occasionally? What mods should I have on my car before getting nitrous? Thanks

Why do you say get the wet system? Isnt the dry suppose to be much safer? Just wondering, Im definetly gonna get nitrous after I fugure out what Im gonna do with my exhaust and intake. And I saw the NOS dry system for like only $480 bucks. I just hope I can handle installing it. But seriously, why do you say wet?

fc3s.org 11-17-01 10:45 PM

fastrotaries is correct. You want a wet system with a stock fuel system. The wet system injects fuel with the N2O so the mixture stays safer. You can run a 100 shot wet system on a stock engine safely provided that your compression check is recent. I would not go over 50 shot dry without fuel enrichment or modification. I have part numbers and everything listed on my site under the Wet Install. They are $499.

Thanks Dave:
By the way the I/c is finally gonna be installed.

But here's the Q of the day exactly where should i install the nozzle. And what angles work best.???????

Most people in turbo setup's install the nozzel before the IC, so that even after the N2O is off, the IC is still cold rendering more performance yet. Personally I would run it right before the TB so that you are cooling the already cooler IC'd air. Angle doesn't matter, as long as the nozzel is facing the TB with the open end.

tIIforever 11-18-01 01:26 PM

ive got a turbo if i get n20 how much hp shot should i be usin

dcamcoTII 11-18-01 03:10 PM

would N20 cause overboost on a T2??

fastrotaries 11-18-01 06:54 PM

N2O is going speed up the entire process that is called your motor.....Chris Ott from RP said that on average your usual turbo vehicle will benefit significantly more form N2O than a N/A vehicle. I've heard poeple getting 70 HP to the wheels on a 50 shot of NOS.........So will this cause spike....possibly......on the 87-88 the wastegate is a JOKE. It's like the size of a nickel. So spike isn't that hard to do. and when mods come in, it definitely becomes an issue. Wether your using NOS or not. The89+ have a much better system.. ALL in all make sure your injectors are ok. the fuel pump is ok and you should be able to run a clean 50 shot. Personally i would do that volt re-wire thingy for the fuel pump.

My Q is this, what type of activations are people using, and do you really need a purge, or a bottle heater. and if so which one is more important?

fastrotaries 11-18-01 06:56 PM

man i can't spell today.....SORRY:spam:

I liked the throttle activated switch that came with the kit. A purge valve is useless unless you want to look cool. There is so much pressure in that bottle, and when you turn on the nozzle and the N2O hits the solenoid, there is less than 2 feet of hose left that is dry. There will be little if any noticable difference is it is purged. A bottle heater would be ok if you life in Main, or the interior of your car gets to 55F or lower while you are driving it. Otherwise, if you leave it on heating the bottle after you are done using it, it stands a good chance of blowing up your car from the expansion. Just the kit itself is everything you need to run it. Then when you are comfortable using it, then you might want to go with other options.

tIIforever 11-18-01 08:43 PM

what is the voltage rewire thingy on the fuel pump and how do i do it??

fastrotaries 11-19-01 03:19 AM

The stock fuel pump runs at two volt settings.......Mazda did this to save the pump. if it's not running at full all the time it will last longer......That's with pretty much all electric motors that are 3 phase. But i won't get into that......So, the stock pump only runs at 12volts when under load. acceleration, and conditions above a certain RPM.......There is a resistor under the passenger's side headlight......just in front of the intake. If you bypass the resistor the pump will receive 12 volts continously and therefore run at FULL all the time. IT just gives you a little more uumph in fuel down below. I don't know if WWW.FC3S.ORG has a write up on it.

Dave:
Thanks for the info. I think i will just go with the kit you got. I wish that Jim Wolf made an aftermarket computer tuned for nos for our cars. check it out at www.jimwolftechnology.com I'll call and see if he can. Would you like me to do a Write up on the fuel pump re-wire. let me know. pm me or e-mail with the same name @aol:bigthumb:
