White smoke+burning coolant=Dying engine ?
I have a 87 N/A with 170K miles on it, so its seen better days. I had previosly been concernd with white smoke from the exhuast. At the time i dismisseed it as steam, as it had been really cold around hear. Its still smoking and i've noticed its downing coolant like like barney from the simpsons downs beer.
So i'm pretty sure my engine is on its last legs. My question is, is it ok to drive. And how long to do i have till it won't even start anymore ? |

sounds like water seals... time for a rebuild :D
...and a big fat port while you're at it! :bigthumb:  |
The big fat port, and fresh engine sounds nice, but way out of price range for a 17 yr old workin min wage at McDonalds, and paying for food and rent. I guess i'll try to tackle the rebuild on my own, but then no huge ports :(
Why do rebuild kits cost soo much ? Anyone got a Relativly low mileage 13B for sale ? |
Dude...this is not something I needed to read (well, actually I think I did but I'm kinda wishing I didn't) my car's doing the same thing!!

So is mine and I just bought it haha, ghey.

Why do rebuild kits cost soo much ? You could try the block-weld business in the meantime. |
Smell the smoke before you panic. And your vanishing coolant may just be a leak. The coolant hoses (like the ones that run to and from the heater core) can develop tiny holes that only leak when the motor is revved.
