The o2 sensor is located on th exhaust manifold. It is the only wire (other than some misc grounds) that goes to the exhaust system. Open up engine bay, go to passenger side of car, look at exhaust manifold, see o2 sensor. It has a single black wire (often with a green coupler to extend the wire.

You will probably not see a huge increase in performance/mileage from a new o2 sensor as it is only used when under 3500 rpm, light load, and small throttle adjustments.

I think the question is where to plug in the electrical connector....Mine is between the firewall and the engine.... apologies, the pics are kinda crappy but, better than nothing:

*EDIT...HAHA the pics resized smaller than I expected...you can barely make it out in the 1st pic but the plug is circled in red and there is a red arrow pointing to it.

what if the o2 sensor is not plugged in at ALL, would that have any ill effect on the car?

Pinfield357 03-25-06 09:26 AM

yes it will get bad MPG and lower performance

When you decide to drive around with it in the loop, which isn't exactly what most people consider performance. (the whole 3500 rpm, light load, and light adjustments)

i still dont know where it plugs into. i dont see any hanging wires or anything. i just did an engine swap over and i cant find where the 02 connects too.

In this picture of a 86 n/a, the o2 electrical plug is in the right third of the picture. It is dark green and somewhat rectangular in shape. It's coming out from UNDER the upper intake manifold.
