Where do you second gen owners buy your brand new bolts?
 

Particularily online? Princess auto has a few, but not enoughe it seems. I mean if im gonna rip something apart, rework and repaint it, I would love to use nice shiny steel bolts instead of the pitted, darkened greasy old ones. Cleaning them is useless as well.

Where do you guys get your bolts for rework projects?
I just did my water pump/housing/coolant neck tonight and it looks awesome! however the bolts that go into it just make it look shitty altogether...

A place nearby that's called Tacoma Screw. They have a sign that says "We Carry Over 10,000 Bolts, Nuts, and Screws" or something like that. Always been able to find stuff there.

Other than that I use Loews (hardware type store) a lot, or Home Depot as a last resort.

any good hardware store should have a variety of bolts, just make sure to bring the old one with, line the old one up to the new ones to make sure the threads match. And never be afraid to ask a clerk, you'd be surprised how much some people know about nuts and bolts.

I go to an ace hardware. Half the price of homedepot, plus they have more metric stuff, than home depot has metric standard and plumbing supplies combined

For us Canadian folks we (I) went to Brofasco. Do you not have that out West? Last time I was there I picked up ss allen head bolts that hold the Ignitors to the Coil Packs.

at the shop i work at we have a setup or kit that has just about every bolt i needed for my rebuild and at the exact same size . im not sure of the name of it but its suited my needs just fine ,..

i bought a 9 dollar bolt for the collant filler neck to waterpump housing at the stealership.... the last time i bought anything from them. (had to, i was in a bind)

I buy bolts from True Value Hardware. That little store has everything. Sure they are a bit more $ but good selection and friendly KNOWLEGABLE staff make it wort the extra money.

It depends on how anal you want to be.

Simple metric bolts can be found in most hardware stores. You just have to be careful about what grade bolt you buy.

However it seems most metric bolts turn out to be DIN (european) instead of JIS (japanese). The DIN bolts use 13mm and 15mm wrenches while the JIS use 12mm and 14mm wrenches. They work just fine, you just need more wrenches when you work on your car.

If you want those flange head bolts that seem to be all over japanese cars, I don't know what to do. I can't find those anywhere.

Metric JIS Flange Bolts / Nuts
 

I just replaced virtually all of my engine bay bolts and nuts with Metric JIS flange pieces which were all zinc plated. I think that they look very good and have a clean appearance. Almost all of my brackets, mounts, UIM, water pump housing, et....are powder coated in the chrome look.

the local hardware stores around here carry metric 8.8 grade and up bolts in a bunch of sizes and shapes that my friends and i have bought for misc rx-7 uses. look for 10.9's if they are gonna have some kind of stress on them.

Some of the finer pitch thread sizes are hard to find, so when Home Depot or Advance Auto does not have them, I go here:

Pegasus. You want to use fasteners suitable for a automobile. Say you need a bolt for the clutch/flywheel. You don't want some cheap thing made for a playground swing. Always pickup a few fasteners when at the wrecking yard.
