where do these connectors go?
just picked up a 88 turbo 2, someone has been in it before and didnt put it back together very well, any ideas on where some of these are suppose to go?
first pic... right near waterpump and intake http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...h/IMG_0629.jpg second pic... near egr and bac valve http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...h/IMG_0630.jpg third pic...near charcoal canister http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...h/IMG_0641.jpg 4th pic... im looking at the peice with a hard line that connects to a vacuum line right behind the nearest injector, dunno where its supose to go, no vacuum diagram shows it http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...h/IMG_0640.jpg 5th pic.... some random hard line.. looks emisions related have no idea if its supose to be hooked up? http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...h/IMG_0631.jpg |
so they actually kind of designed these connecotrs so you cant mix them up.. in the first pic that black connector, goes to the other black connector of oposite sex...
then the white connector in the first pic, i belive goes to the 2 wires your showing in the 2nd picture, is there still a connector ont he end of it? ( the wires u show coming out of the ACV) the yellow 2 prong connector in first pic goes to nothing, its a fuel pump jumper connecotr for troubleshooting/testing fuel system. the "near charcoal canister picutre" , that 2 prong does not go to anything.it would of gone to the recalled "sub zero starting assist system", which used to inject glycol sp? into engine at sub zero temps" you are missing the resivour/motor that would of pluged into. leave it off. it doesnt work thats why they got rid of it. the strange contraption held on by 2 bolts, with the sort of brass colored pipe with 2 hoses coming out facing the rear of the engine nested inbetween the 2 secondary injectors, is thesub zero thing i mentioned in above post, just cap those off. one of hte vac lines says "CG 6H on it" for reference of what im talkin about. then the other line is a kind of fat hose. ohh on a side boy looking at those pics they routed the wiring a little funky.... also looks like they swaped injector plugs and might be running later year s5 injectors... |
ohh on a side note that black and white connector do not need to be connected for the car to run in anyway or form, they are just for emisisons components.
id suggest wraping some of those exposed wires too you dont want a short! |

1st pic - black goes to the black. The white connector should go to another connector coming off the acv that is colored white. The yellow connector is for running the fuel pump with the engine not running to check for leaks.
2nd pic - those two wires should have gone to a white connector that plugs into the other white connector in the first pic 3rd pic - subzero system. don't worry about this. it's useless 4th pic - again subzero system. just cap the lines off on that little valve sticking off the manifold. Or you can order the subzero block off plate from www.2751engineering.com 5th pic - this goes to the smog/air pump. You do not appear to have this (would be a device with a pulley left of the waterpump). Order the ACV block off plate from www.2751engineering.com and you can remove that acv valve all together. Doing this will eliminate the connectors for the white and black plugs coming off the main harness in the 1st picture. But these are not needed to run the car |
yeah solareon is right if youd ont ahve an air pump theres no real point hooking up any of the acvc wires int eh first place....
theres actually a number writen on the side of the plastic ontop fo the injector to determine, but im pretty sure those are s5, u can also look by the conector, if its an oval shape there s5, where as the s4 hae a square connector. |
