Where did you find your TII?
I've been having a hell of a time finding a TII in socal, and I was wondering where you found yours?
you can't find a TII in Los Angeles... dude, there are probably more TII's in SoCal then any where with the exception of NorCal
i found mine sitting behind a garage in a field
I think the forum is the only way to go. You know the owner is at least somewhat of an enthusiast, and you can research past threads to get a little history about the car. Its the only way I would buy one.
I found mine in a junkyard. It was totaled but the entire driveline was mint. It is now in my convertible.
FCs weren't even spendy enough new to be seen around Newport Beach but you would think there would be more to choose from in Cali in general.
I found my car on eBay, located in TX. I found the donor car on this forum's classifieds, also from TX. Seems like there are some clean ones there. Can I vote twice? |
I found mine as a parts car, headed for the junk yard!
got my first one from a cousin that was joining the air force.
Got my second one from AutoTrader/Rx7Club.com. Listed on both |
I drove 6 hours through a blizzard from chicago to columbus to get mine, and limped her back on one rotor. clean body though, especially for a midwest car. found her on the forum.
Craigslist.com is the place to go.
i found my TII, with a clean body and brandnew motor still under warranty, on ebay and then contacted seller and we worked something out in person. I drove from The very northwest corner of jersey all the way to central maryland to pick it up though.
My project TII was found on craigslist. It's now in the hands of another forum member.
Story of my current one: One day out for a drive I spotted a S5 Turbo II sitting way off the road in somebody's driveway. A few minutes later some friends of mine passed the same car but by then it was sitting on the side of the road in their yard but no "for sale" sign. The next day I stopped by the house, car was sitting way down in their driveway. Knocked on the door and when they answered I asked, "Is that red car for sale?" They said, "there aren't signs on it but it is for sale." I drove it home the next day. |
My first T2 bought off the forum.... It's long gone now though..
I found mine in some guy's yard underneath a tree... It has been alot of work.
found my first one on ebay. 86 gxl. then i traded that to a guy from texas for his 88t2. he even drove to my place to do the trade :)
craigslist.org
be patient on rx7 but hope you find the good one. =)
Found my T2 in a guys field. Dropped in a motor and been running great for 3 years now.
Best place to find them though is here on the board. Mike |
craigslist.org. When I bought mine (a couple of weeks ago) there were a couple of others for sale in the area (NorCal).
I voted 'Other' because I had to make mine.
A 65 year old guy sold it to me.
10 years later, it still runs great with no rust! 3rd engine though....:D |
Funny story! I was walking the countryside, guitar on my back. A young girl stopped me and offered me $1000 + a total of 50 BJ's for taking this awful car from her. Turns out it was a 10AE.
:dunno: Nah ok I lied. I found it on the forum and caught a ride to Dallas. Bought it sight unseen, and drove it home 1200 miles. |
Bought mine from a customer at my former dealership in PA back in 98. He had it towed in with a blown rear rotor. The used car dept offered him $1500 on trade-in so I offered him $1500 cash on the spot. He was the original owner and other than smoking in the car, he kept it in near perfect condition. I let it sit for a year and a half then dropped in a Mazda reman 13B and had a great car. I drove it daily for several years and now it tends to spend more time in the garage than out. It runs fine, but with a 1 year-old son and no back seat, it's not quite the practical car. I'll never part with it though.

Craigslist for my black t2 and bought my 10th anniversary from ebay and my GXL from auto trader. With out these sites dont think i would have had any of them.:)
I made my own from a non turbo. This one I bought from a local paper and got the truck and trailer with car stuck in the guys front yard because the road was too small to get out on. Man that was an adventure!
The real turbo one was in Columbus from a forum member. Tire blew out on the trailer on the way home, didnt feel it go but there was an odd smell and it was raining chunks of rubber then I looked behind me and saw all the smoke. Man that was an adventure! |
