where can you find this O-ring in the manifold??
 

I was at Mazdatrix site and noted this o-ring called "manifold water o-ring." (picture J, pn 13-1130-8527 ) It is supposed to be for "most rotary engine, except for 84-92 non turbo 6 ports" Well, I have an 87T2, and I do not remember seeing it at all when I disassemble the upper manifold. Do you know where it is? I am asking because my coolant level drops somewhat after several days of driving, but for the life of me, I can not find an obvious external leak, and the car does not blow white smoke...

Those go in the coolant passages between the lower manifold and the block.

I'd imagine it would blow white smoke if that o-ring were bad, and leaking internally.. It would go directly in the intake.

Or, leak out...but you said no external leaks...hmmm...

cool...gonna check it out later tonight in the manual....

I changed these in my '87 TII this summer. They go between the lower manifold and the "block". One of them goes to the turbo and the other one actually deadends right there at the manifold. If they leak you can usually see antifreeze on top of the manifold near the block if you look very carefully with a flashlight. You might also see a white residue where the antifreeze evaporates (mine was on the turbo). My car leaked here slowly and it never made any spots on the driveway because it evaporates first. You will need to change the lower intake manifold gasket as well as the two o-rings if you find that it is leaking from there. Bad news...it's time consuming....good news....it's a cheap fix if you do the work yourself. Let me know if I can help.
