where can I find an electric oil pressure guage?
I can not find one of these everyone in town has the damn mechanical ones and I really don't feel like having hot oil in my car. Does anyone know where I can get this and an electric oil temp guage for a good price? Thanks.
Ps. I've looked on ebay but half say they are mechanical and the other half don't say anything about what it is? Thanks again. |
www.egauges.com
They sell autometer and vdo and maybe a few other brands. I have a vdo electric oil pressure gauge, works great. 0-150pis range. |
Summitracing.com
They have a whole bunch of kinds. I got my autometer phantom electric oil guage from them. |
Check out HKS, Greddy or Apex

Yeah..... I suppose the first question should have been - Do you want a $40 gauge, or a $200 gauge? That will change where you are going to look.
|
yeah lol I'll leave the 200 dollar hks guages for the rich fd guys. Myself I am the poor cheap fc type guy and I like the idea of a 40 dollar guage :) Well thanks for all yalls help as always I do apprectiate it greatly!!!

Maybe you like the idea of a new motor too? Im a FC guy too, but cheap and accurate dont go hand in hand.

My buddy dumped 4 qts of hot oil into his pass seat compartment because i stretched a bit too far and popped the oil line off the back of the gauge. He only made it half way home before noticing (gauge didn't have a light). He said he ould hear a bubbling and didn't know what it was.
Whenever I ride with him he gives me shit about it, that and your shoes still come out oily. Thats was over a year ago. |
I'm not sure I'd say HKS / Greddy imply accurate as far as gauges go, last I checked the gauges you get from them are not certified for any level of accuracy for industrial use, though they certainly are priced insanely high.
You can pick up certified hydraulic gauges from northerntool.com for very cheap that will have great precision and accuracy. I would use one of these gauges under the hood for checking whenever you have a questionable situation reflected by any old effective electronic gauge inside the car. The stock FC gauge is not effective, the sender design is a direct result of 70's drug use, take one apart and you'll know what I'm talking about. The cheap gauge+sender combos you'll get from summit will be fine, just use a good certified hydraulic gauge for sanity checks when you're noticing weird things going on with the gauge in the car, or when you initially setup your electronic gauge so you can compare it's performance to the certified gauge. |
Wouldn't you smell the oil?

Yeah thats what I thought I mean I know hks and all the other expensive brands are probably good, thats how they got their name, but common if everyone said the same thing about the athlon processor everyone would still be buying overpriced processors. Just my 2 cents.

Are you saying Athlons arent good?

Bingo! You hit the nail on the head.

Ill agree that some of the autometers are good. Some of their more expensive pieces are decent, but I (no longer) trust their <$75 gauges.
