Where to buy oxygen sensor for S5.
 

I know it's a stupid question but I can't find anything anywhere. I know rx7.com has one but it seems that only the S4 have a basic plug n' play. Unless the one for S5's on there just doesn't show the plug. Just any links would be awesome. I'm hoping this will be the answer to my MPG issues since fuel filter + new plugs and wires did nothing. I just can't justify spending 30$ on shipping for an item that cost 40 and weighs nothing.

You may have to just get one of the generic single wire O2 sensors and splice the existing connector on. Just be careful to get a proper crimp when you do it. O2 sensors create very low voltage, and you don't want a poor connection.

If you want one that doesn't require splicing and already has the correct plug then rockauto.com is a good option.

Are all oxygen sensors the same thread?

If anyone could reply to that, that would be awesome. I plan on ordering one ASAP so I can install it over the Christmas break along with new brake pads and fuel filter.

All O2 sensors are the same thread. I say that with very high (but not 100%) confidence. Turns out, they're also the same thread as the 18mm spark plugs. Universal O2 sensors fit and work, ask me how I know ;)

Aha, thanks. My dad's done some electrical stuff before so it shouldn't be a problem crimping it.

it seems to be that there are two sizes, the 18mm thread size is all the same thread. i do notice my neighbors motor cycle has an O2 sensor that's smaller than a normal car one...

additionally in a narrow band sensor there are 3 kinds.

1 wire, non heated, the wire is just the signal

3 wire, 1 signal wire, and 2 wires for the heater circuit.

4 wire, 1 signal, 1 ground (i think), and the heater.

any other differences are wire lengths and connectors.

btw Mazda wants $188 for their sensor, N350-18-861-9U

I have one plugging the stock O2 sensor bung. I'm not putting my wideband in the exhaust stream that close to the turbo, so I got a universal O2 sensor to install in the stock location. I also searched for the same thing years back, never to find a decent priced O2 sensor with the right connector on it. I bought a universal one, chopped the old connector off, soldered the connector on the new one, and everything was copasetic again.

You want the single wire O2 sensor. Any parts store will get you the right one, just get a decent brand.

Yeah, I'm just going to pick up the one from Atkins and my dad will do the soldering, aha. They sell the Bosch universal one.

Get a Single wire Universal Bosch or NGK O2 sensor From anywhere in ONTARIO,like Napa,Partsource,.freakin Canadian Tire.
The Car is not THAT special..It doesn't need to say Mazda RX7 on the O2 sensor.
You are selling the car anyways.

Aha, I'm so used to ordering parts. I'll hit up the local part source when I'm back home. If this change adds even like 2 extra MPG I will be happy.
