Where is the AWS solenoid?

OK, stupid question....

I want to disconnect the 3000 rpm start up (I've already modified the TB), but can't find the solenoid. I read that it was near the bottom of the radiator drivers side, but still can't locate it. A solenoid should be pretty large....so where is it hiding?

No, down on the bottom left side of the radiator is a water temp switch, which if you disconnect one or both of the wires going to it, should disable the solenoid. On my 87turbo the solenoid is on the top right hand side of the engine, its black, has a connector with two wires and a one inch hose going to the intercooler. Like I said, on a 87turbo.

I would not recommend removing that solenoid. You gain nothing at all, and you have to hold on the throttle until the car warms up, or it will stall. Once it warms up, everything is fine, but it is a hassle to have to sit in the car and hold on the throttle. I removed it from my car, but I will be putting it back on because its too much of a hassle.

just do like I do... stick it in first and start it. (clutch down of course) it won't rev to 3000. Makes sense, it would be erm, upleansant if the motor spooled to 3000 and someone carelessly let go of the clutch in 1st...

Sorry about the lack of a description for the solenoid on a n/a. Its about one inch inboard of the oil filter. Its a cylindrical device with two wires going into it and a couple of hose. I stick with the deactivation method of taking one of the wires to the water temp sensor that is located on the bottom left side of the radiator. There is a small down side to this though. Doing that will effect(affect?) the relief solenoid valve signal for the relief valve inside the acv. Nothing that you will notice but needs to be undone for emmissions inspection.

My answers are starting to bug even me. Hey. You wanna disable it. Find it in the description above and just unplug it, cut a wire to it , go to the relay and disable it. Do not take the wire off the water temp sensor on the radiator. No need to mess up something that is not related to the disabling of the 3000 rpm auto wear system. I like that term. Its descriptive of what is happening.
