When do you know if your engine is too flooded?
 

My main water seal has been bad since i got the car the previous owner admited to it and to deal i just cleaned out the spark plugs and filled the radiator but the car wont start now at all. It almost wants to but it wont. Im thinking its too much water leaking in for any spark to take afect and hold.

How do you know if your engine is done for when it comes to the water seal? Is there anything i can do to get some more milage out my 13b before a rebuild is nessisary?

well if you have a coolant leak youve lost teh compression...Search the FAQ for the procedure on how to unflood the car and to restore the oil seal on each rotor face

I did the things from the faq to try to start it up but its just to flooded i think.

The past few times the car has been running (espeically after taking it to firestone) it expels alot of white smoke from the exsaust and i've been losing coolant fast.

I'm guessing theres just too much leaking in for the engine to start no matter what i do now.


What else can i do?

Well if you are losing coolant that fast then your coolant seals are long gone. Time for a rebuild im afraid. If it wont even start for you then the spark plugs are too fouled to fire, thus causing the flooding, and consequential filling of the coolant into the champers.

Well, if you're not getting much if any compression at all... your engine is, unfortunately, not going to start. The best thing for you to do at this moment is to do a compression test. Don't take it to a dealer and let them ream you... do it yourself or take it to somebody that loves rotary engines that will do it for a decent price. There's a guy in town that does them for an hour's labor = $40. :) If you determine you have decent compression 80+ PSI... 80 is kind of low really. Try to unflood it again and start from there. Just to be sure, do the relay switch trick. Not sure how it goes but along this line: Pull out the relay switch, start it, reconnect the switch, then turn it over

flooded = no start

It didnt have a thermostat before and once i put on in i havnt been able to start it. Is it possible that with a thermostat and a broken coolant seal the added presure is making more water flood the engine?
