Wheelhop??!?!??!
 

I'm new to the forums, and the whole front engine, rear drive setup.

I've owned a '95 Maxima and '89 accord coupe, both FF and auto :bash:

I'm used to drop the car from neutral to drive on the auto tranny @2,500 rpm, and I would always get wheel hop, as expected.

Yesterday, in NYC (the roads were a little slick) i dropped the clutch at about 2,000 and floored it after the clutch engaged, and I got WHEELHOP??

As far as my car, the rear tires are kinda shitty right now, but my suspension seems in tact, hell, even the AAS still works (i think)!!

I thought that FR cars don't usually experience wheelhop, on top of which the road was wet, and the car is equipped with the lsd.

Does anyone else experience wheelhop in their fc?

There is no reason RWD cars with IRS cannot get wheelhop. Most times though, this is caused by old,worn out suspension. As soon as I went with some nice aftermarket springs/struts, my wheelhop problems went away.

Yeah RWD cars still get wheelhop, even if its wet out they still can. My NA when I had it used to get a little bit of wheel hop. My current TII gets wheelhop. My dads 240sx gets wheelhop too. They are all on stock suspension though so not sure what it will be like once I get better suspension for my TII. Hopeing it goes away.

There a couple of causes for wheel hop, Tires, axels, rear suspension.... tires can cause it if theres a slick or flat spot on the tire. Axels, under load, can twist to a certain point and "spring" loose (however unlikely on an FC, it's more so a problem on camaro's and mustaings because of the small axel shafts). Suspension can do pretty much the same as the axels, if bushings, springs shocks,ect are wore a little they give more and cause the "spring" action. One of the best places to start is polyurethane rear control arm bushings. there cheap enough and it will give you a chance to get familiar with the rear suspension set up of the FC.
