Wheel Bearing help

Hey just found out my drivers side rear wheel bearing is going out. I'm gonna change it out myself but I have never gone this far into the hub. I need to know whether I can just buy the whole bearing assembly and press it in there or do I have to buy some seals for it like the front. I searched and I looked in my Haynes manual and found nothing so far. SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!! What all do I need for this?

The bearning comes as a whole unit. You should get the axle/bearing seal as well. And yes, the old bearing will need to be pressed out and in.

So I guess I'm just not sure of where the seal goes in relation to the bearing and hub and all. do I need two seals or just one or do they come in a pack of two?

This thread just confused me more. He never specified where the seals went and how he put it all back together.

Can someone help me. I have to order these parts and I need to know specifics.

i did this on one of my sevens, i replaced the whole spindle assembly, got it for 10 dollar at the junkyard, no need for any pressing if you go that route. Just make sure the one you get is a good one

Here is the mazda shop manuel. It's 100x better than the haynes manuel.

i pressed in new front bearings myself... it was a pain in the ass and i went through 3 steel drifts and then i found the fc3s.org article. this mazdatrix article was very helpful.

changing them yourself is not impossible... you just need a good carbide dremel set, some extra hard drifts/ junk screwdrivers, and be ready to beat your fingers with a hammer a couple of times.

if i did it again it would be with a low mile used hub assembly though...

i just did this yesterday on my rear pass. bearing i had to get it pressed in and out cause that mofo was in there and it wasnt going to come out with hand tools thats for sure and yeah get the seals i think there only like $6 or something the bearing is like $50 if your doing it your self just get the whole hub and everything and just go to a brake place they will have a press there to get the hub and then the bearing in an out may may cost like $20-30 but hey its cheaper then having them do the whole thing labor kills you i know i work at a brake/lube shop :bigthumb:
