What's with white smoke after shut off?

Lately I have been experiencing very light cloudy white smoke coming from the air vents and through the boot where the shifter is into the interior after shut off. Sometimes it does this sometimes it does not. I have a 1989 GTU.

I will try to explain this the best as I possibly can. When I have the car idling or after normal driving for I'd turn off the car then white stream of light smoke would rise inside the interior of the car. I can't quite distinguish the smell or scent of it or even figure out where its coming from..well...obviously from the engine but where! I had a friend that says I am cooking oil but to me it would not make sense. While its off?!

Could it be my oil seals are leaking by causing the oil to burn? I don't know, I am confused. It has been months that I'd experienced this since I bought the fc and did not really bother me but why not ask the experts. I had own 3 fc's this being my 4th one and never experienced something like this.

What can it be?

Most likely something is dripping on the exhaust, a little up close and personal time with the undercarriage might point it out.
That would explain smoke from the shifter boot but not the air vents.
That part is kinda weird.

Actually, on second thought...have you checked the coolant level lately?
Perhaps a small leak in the heater system, one only manifested when the car is shut down and the coolant system pressurizes.
