Whats the next level?
I have a question for anyone out there.
I have a 1990 GXL that I have been building up for a while Here are the MODS Street port engine with 3mm seals Bonez intake sealed up to a hood scoop (yep) Port matched and polished intake manifold RB header, race pipe, Edelbrock RPM mufflers (2 1/4) Electric fan MSD 6a MSD 8.5mm wires I haven't been to the track, but judging my cars I've raced I'm guessing my 0-60 time is no better than about 7 seconds, and 1/4 mile would be around 15 or so. Is there something holding me back? Besides a lightened flywheel, WHAT else can I DO?????? I figure I have done about everything substantial. Would a S-AFC or something really help? I just figure with the port job and everything else done my car should be faster. Is the fuel system the next step? Is it the bottleneck? Hey, what about a chip? Thanks a lot Dan |
Gear ratios may help.
Should he also upgrade the fuel system and injectors? |
Does anyone out there know If I should upgrade my fuel system??
Also- I am getting an air/fuel ration meter- under WOT, Ideally, what should it be reading? |
Between 2500-3900 I believe it should be pretty lean, but then as it goes 4500 and up, you want more fuel in there. If you hook up your A/F guage, and you see that it's REALLY lean in the upper RPM, you may want to add 550cc injectors, but I don't think you'll need to upgrade the fuel pump.

With those mods you should be below the 15 mark! I would think about doing some fuel stuff or lose some weight...w/ those mods you should be over 200HP and running 14s!
