What's the best oil filter?

Was just wondering what're the best oil filters for the RX-7's. Is the Mazda part best? or can maybe a larger one fit?

Thanks!

A lot of people use the Mazda filter. One thing about RX-7 parts is (oil filters, thermostats, etc), if you are ever wondering about quality, just go with the Mazda part. They are always top quality.

But I can tell you not to get a Fram. Go to this link it is quite informative: http://members.nbci.com/minimopar/oilfilterstudy.html

I always use Mazda with Castro. I have 133K on my motor now, I drive over 110 mile a day, it still runs like new

I use Pure One oil filters and Valvoline Racing VR1 20W-50

I also use the mazda factory filters, I also have switched to the Valvoline VR1 Raceing oil 20w-50.

How much do the Mazda filters cost? I've been using Purolator Plus.

I use the Purolater PureOne filter and my oil in my TII is still nice and relatively amber in color. It costs about $6, but it's well worth it.

I use the K&N myself...its is spendy, but they claim to have a anti-drainback valve inside...so I've been using it for the last few oil changes.

the tests say Purolator Pure One. Fram is Junk, you might as well stick a gym sock in a coke can!

i personally use a diaper shoved into a pickle jar, works great!!!

Filters

The web site referred to earlier is a very informative one indeed. They give the Mobil 1 filter a very high rating, and it is what I am running.

It is one of the very few filters made with a completely synthethic (meaning no cotton) filter element. It is therefore able to catch much smaller contaminants.

I bought and installed a Purolator Pure One filter yesterday. While I didnt disect it, just from visual inspection it looks like a very good filter.

I use Bosch. I have used their products for years and have always been quite pleased with them. :bigthumb:

When I bought my rx in May the man that I bought it from said that I shouldn't put any gas other that regular unleaded in it. If I put premium or super in it will it hurt the engine?

Also, what is the best oil to use?

Most all oil filters have an anti-drainback valve. It keeps the dirt from the filter from draining back into the oil pan when the car is turned off.

If your car is an N/A, then yes, you should only run regular. You should always use the minimum octane rating that will burn without pinging. The extra rating does nothing for an N/A.

Turbo's are a different story. You should use premium.

As for oil, I use Castrol GTX, 20W-50. A lot of people seem to like Castrol.

I also use the Pureone filter, and have switched to Castrol 20/50 but shouldn't you go back to a 10W 30 in the winter?
