What would you pay for a 1990 Vert with 16000 miles on it?

Car is in mint condition sans a ding or two on the door.

16000 original miles, the car is automatic and red on black leather.

Well lets here what you think its worth and what youd pay

worr20 10-23-06 06:19 PM

1000-2000

Bluecoop91 10-23-06 06:28 PM

Yeah, not as much as you'd think considering the car is an automatic. I'd say 4.5k tops.

86rx7racer 10-23-06 06:31 PM

yuck automatic. i would say 2k-3k but switch it to manual ASAP!!!

Stanello 10-23-06 06:34 PM

I doubt I'll be in the market for an automatic vert anytime soon, but I'd guess 6-7k.

How about you look up the blue book value on it?

alexdimen 10-23-06 07:08 PM

$1000? you guys are some fucking low ballers! i hope you never try to buy a car from me.

blue book is 6k. i'd pay 5k for it if i were into verts because it's an auto. then miata-box it and get a 4.3 in the rear.

hurleysurf24 10-23-06 08:01 PM

car in question the guy is asking 8000 for .. i told him hes smoking crack especially because its an auto.

i offered him 3500 and he laughed, and then i laughed and said good luck with sale

86rx7racer 10-23-06 08:09 PM

haha funny shit

eriksseven 10-23-06 09:23 PM

You can basically count on verts being over-priced if the owner doesn't know anything about Rx7's... :dunno:

However, it probably is worth $6k+ to the right person, simply because that is EXTREMELY low-mileage.

RoughRex 10-23-06 09:37 PM

yeah...If someone offered me 2k for that car (assuming I was the owner)... I'd laugh and tell you to stop wasting my time. I mean Please...an almost mint vert with only 18k on it? It's barely broken in yet! It's worth 5k at least. I wouldn't buy it but..If I were the owner I'd sell it for no less.

densetsu 10-23-06 09:46 PM

one could argue along the lines that by running it so little over so long, more wear has been imposed on the motor from lack of operation and thus lubrication. then again, this is a world of numbers and 18k is awfully low for any used car that old, even a ferrari, so to some people that makes it worth a million bucks, but in my opinion the older a car gets, the less the amount of miles matter and the more the availibility of the vehicle comes into play.

Terrh 10-23-06 10:01 PM

a mint vert, 16,000 miles

wow, even auto
$12k canadian instantly ($10k usd?)

if it was stick it could be worth $20k CDN at a dealership.

This depends entirely on how well the car was maintained. If the owner was smart he/she would have at least taken it to the grocery store and back once every week or two. It is a valid point though.

no, $6k is what it's worth in USD

you're telling me a low mile 5 spd vert would go for $18K USD retail?

hurleysurf24 10-24-06 05:03 AM

the owner pretty much has no idea about rx-7s ... just that he thinks he can get an over inflated amount for the car because of the mileage

deadRX7Conv 10-24-06 10:44 AM

Low mileage mint condition verts get top dollar.

Have the owner toss it on ebay or autotrader.

CantScreamOverYou 10-24-06 11:31 AM

It's worth as much as someone will pay for it, BUT if I were in the market for this car, which I would never be, I would say 6k tops, maybe 6.5k if they give a number of a reliable transmission expert to swap that auto out.

Beep777 10-24-06 11:32 AM

I have owned three Verts including an auto and all I have to say is they are gutless and definitely not worth any premiums. As soon as I am able to sell me current one, I have a project one waiting for me that will become a Turbo Vert. Don't get me wrong, I love driving the Verts but can't wait until I have one someday with a little power. There is NO WAY any stock Vert is worth over 5K.

Just my opinion.

I bought my 88 vert 3 years ago with 160, 000 km on it. (100,000 miles) for 5 k canadian. That was after searching for about 1 yearand seeing lots of beaters for even more money, I found this one with original paint (lots of door dings). This car was oil sprayed yearly and never winter driven so the body was in good shape. But it needed a clutch real bad the shifetr bushing were non existent. Convert top very good as car was always garaged.
I've since had the engine rebuilt nd ported and rebuilt the entire suspension. About 10 k sunk into it so far with interior and paint job still to come.
that car is a steal at 6k even if you spenk another grand or so to swap the tranny.
