what would consitute and overheating

I recently got my engine rebuilt and it is now eating coolant.... there is a warranty on the engine but I'm curious about what kind of overheating it would take to destroy the coolant seals in an engine. I was driving one day and I noticed the temp gauge was a little higher than usual and by the time I pulled over it was around halfway on the temp gauge and I turned it off and didn't drive it again until I had fixed it (Stupid air bleed screw cracked...). Would that be enough "overheating" to destroy my coolant seals??

normally not, I overheated my engine all the way to H 3 times and my engine runs ok. you say your engine is eating coolant, have you looked for leaks? any white smoke out of the exhaust? pop off your radiator cap and turn you engine on, Leave it on for a while, if you notice the coolant starts bubbling at the radiator fill cap area, you blew a coolant seal.
