So ive had my rx7 fc for awhile now and when i got it, it came with this bolt in cage. At first i thought it was cool but after driving it at a couple events i saw how annoying the cage really was especially the parts that go across the doors. Im trying to sell it now but not sure on what brand it is. Anyone seen this cage at all? Any input would be appreciated

Dang, I'm not sure. It looks like a hybrid Cusco cage... Perhaps, custom bolt in??? I've not really seen many without a door support

Looks decent, unfortunate that the tubes don't sit closer to the body though!

It is also important to reinforce the mounting points of the cage to the frame otherwise they may punch through the sheet metal in a rollover!

Ya its stupid how crappy the cage fits around the doors. i have to get in 1 leg at a time. My friend builds fd-spec cages so i just wanna sell this one and get one of those

This. I get wet walking to work at least a few days per week. Everything is wet every day.

That cage is better than nothing, but I can't imaging it will be too easy to sell to anyone wanting to track their car. The door and cross bar are missing.

Nvm on the cross bar. I'd just give it a go on Craigslist as a bolt in cage. Who does the fd legal cages and for how much?

LOL ya i was in the middle of doing a truck conversion and then i spun a bearing in my SR20. So focused all my attention did a rebuild with some go fast parts. Ive driven it maybe a handful of times without the hatch on the streets. Its pretty much my dedicated track car for now. Still debating on going ahead and finishing the truck conversion or throwing the hatch back on. It makes it a hell of alot easier to ship tires and crap when u got no hatch too lol

Ya it never came with door bars which sucked cause i couldnt do tandem with it.. it was more of a look cool thing. I got a friend who is an expert welder and has a tube bender. Hes been making fd spec cages for awhile. And will do it for about 500 bucks if i bring him the piping

assad112000 05-01-13 06:26 PM

Still wondering.. Anyone??

I'm not sure what brand (if any) the cage is, but it's built better than a Cusco cage.

You are putting yourself at risk if you are driving the car without padding on the roll cage. A very minor collision could end up killing you. SFI padding is the best, but even the cheap foam stuff will help protect you from serious damage.

Here are some links to the roll cage in my FC, which may help your friend design one for your car. My cage was built by a professional shop that specialized in movie stunt cars, and the designer was a safety inspector for NASCAR.

im not using it for myself anymore. Im getting a formula drift spec cage welded in professionaly. just wanted to know what this was so i could get know what im selling. I found out that the front arms are cusco arms and maybe the main hoop. But the rear is custom. And also found out it can fit in a s13 too lol
