what supercharger

alright folks. after hearin about supercharging a fc, i was hooked on the idea. sounds great. just one problem. i have no idea which one to think about. i know that i want either a roots or twin screw that could possibly get the car to about 300hp but a little less is fine. any suggestions? oh yea, its gotta be emissions legal in CA. i know...bummer. thanks for any info.

good luck getting a working SC setup and still meeting emissions

I would say to keep all the stock stuff and try to swap them around when you need to "take the test"

I believe Atkins makes a kit, otherwise you are on your own with fabrication work for the various mounts and brackets as well as intake piping.

There aren't any california legal kits available. To do a 300hp setup, you'll need at least 2k to dump into it. Most roots blowers won't get you there very easily (you'd need at least an m115 or so)

M90's are quite common on low power applications.

Camden now offers an EFI Supercharger kit that costs somewhere between the arm and the leg. All their other kits cost a leg and run off Holley Tuned Carburetors.

darn darn DARN! and here i was gettin mah hopes up. oh well thanks guys. i know this has been done before

Yes it has, by me and a few others. The m90 setups generally only push ~230, and run about $2-3k for everything, a decent 300+ setup would require a whipple or a properly sized centrifugal (can't find any that are sized well enough for us) and would cost roughly in the 4K+ range.

I'm just in the process of screwing an AutoRotor TwinScrew onto my little 928. It's been done by a few in the group and it meets emission standards, but not component standards. The good news is that it looks stock, so some test facilities miss it as not OEM.

We are going to try using an Eaton/Jag unit for the Gen 2 RX-7, next, becasue you can get one for under $500.00. Looks pretty straight forward. There's WAY more room in the RX-7.
