What size fuel lines?
I'm replacing the fuel hose and I don't have the time or money (right now) to go all braided since that requires custom welded rails and stuff. So I want to get all new rubber hose. I know to get fuel injected hose instead of the lower grade carb hose, but I don't know what size to get. I've heard that the US sizes don't work at all, although 5/16ths looks (to the eye) like a perfect replacement. What is the proper metric size of hose these vehicles use and where should I buy it from? The dealer is MONDO expensive on these ($50 for one of the little pieces!!)...
Also, what clamps should I be using? I've read that the worm gear clamps are bad for some reason for fuel hose. Sucks, 'cause I like them. I don' t know what to get now. |
5/16ths from what I recall when doing the rats nest removal on my cars. :)

The screw clamps don't apply pressure evenly all around the hose. You want high pressure fuel hose clamps for that.

I'm using Goodyear 5/16 Fuel Rails for now along with ring worm driven gear clamps. They work great. The setup will change soon though. I'm broke and I'm going with full AN fittings very soon.:)

Ok thanks guys. 5/16ths it is then. I'll try to find those spiffy hose clamps but if I can't I won't worry, for sure. :)
