what should I check out?, and a few ECU questions

Long story short (silenced by my lawyer) i got screwed over buying a fc that was said to be running and driveable and turns out to be in pieces and not in running shape. It seems it has sat quite a while as well. I am gonna try to get it running tonight and wanted to be sure of a few things.

1) other than checking the oil level, checking the fuel lines are intact and filling the coolant system is there anything else i am not remembering to check out?

2) there is no intercooler, can i run a flex-pipe from the turbo side to the intake side just for starting/idling purposes?

3) what are the model of the turbo ecu's?

4) how can i tell if one has been chipped? will it be obvious?

5) what is a safe running temp for a 13b-re? The rad is trashed and it has no cooling fan so i just want to ge tti runnign and shut off.

#2.......yes.

#3......what year?

#5.......about 200* and if just getting it up and idling , then if you don't exceed that keep idling. That's a conservative figure. Not a hard/fast figure.

#1.....I'd smell the gas in the lines and make sure it didn't have that "varnish" smell to it.

If it has one of those small electric fans in front of the radiator.......I found if it runs it alone will keep a engine under 190*or so if just idling around 700-800 rpm. Nice little auxillary fan.
