what parts are know to be crap on the 88 vertable?

so that I can get up to speed and start looking for the parts.

I am thinking the alternators are weak on the cars, this true?

Is the alterantors for sale by the guy on here a good deal or can they be had elsewhere too?

thanks

ya they are on all S4's or just FC's in general heh but also ditch the motor too its slow lol ... j/k im a vert owner here mines a 88 as well.. POST PICS

if you want a quick car look at my mods... im nowhere near done but it did improve throttle response like hell

how did your TB modifications affect idle / etc

BTW, anyone know how to keep the targa portion of the roof from rattling around when the top is closed.. my latches are tight as anything.. but the place where they connect to the rest of the top still rattles around just a little bit.. it drives me NUTS

hey man NICE VERT... and the TB mod was awesome... the idle is nothing to worry about. i just reset the TPS and it runs like a champ... my car has a working warm up procedure you know like when it revs up to 2 or 3k and holds it till it gets warm... occasionally it falls off and dies unless im there to give it some gas (just one tap though) and then it idles at 1k till it warms up just fine... in other words ive had no idle problems and you can see how gutted my TB is lol

'88 vert here, I feel your pain brother. my current solution involves the radio and exhaust being MUCH LOUDER than they are now. BTW congrads on the new toy, it looks very nice.

Have not found any real weak spots on my '88 vert except the interior plastic.

My top rattles a bit, everything is tight and the weatherstripping is in great shape. I think its just the stiffness of the car, all the additional bracing underneath and behind the seats.

The latches adjust to make them tighter or looser. Try that. Other wise there is not much you can do, besides maybe some high quality silicone spray.

I used to have a 88 vert. What makes it slow is the cat. Intake and straight though (header back) exhaust will make it a completely different car.

I miss my old vert sometimes.

lol when you say straight thru do you mean headers and then just piping out? surely you had mufflers on it right? if not was it just unbearable?

Well yeah, there would need to be some mufflers. Get the Racing Beat header back system, an intake and an SAFC, Dyno tune in and you will love your car.

Pulsation dampner change + full tune up is a good starting ground.
