what is involved in changing to fuel injection?
so there is the throttle body, the computer, what else is involved with fuel injection, and changed to it from carburation? i was interested in doing a TII swap in my car if i can find an engine for the right price.

oh boy. You better search the FB section for this.
At a minmum you'll need the wiring harness,ECU,Boost sensor, and afm, manifolds, throttle body. I don't know if you can make a 1st gen interior harness plug into a FC engine harness. You might be better off going with a stand alone. Now another option would be to do a blow through car setup with a turbo engine. Not exactly fuel efficient but it's cheaper. |
yes if you want to go 13b on a 1st gen i would say get a carb mani and a carb hat if you want to go turbo it will save you ALOT of time

If you're going to install a complete FC 13B, whether NA or Turbo, most of the injection hardware is already on the engine. On the fuel side you'll need to replace the fuel pump and fuel filter with high-pressure versions, and run a return line to the tank (if carb'd 1st Gens don't have one). To control it you could use the stock ECU, but you'll need to adapt the FC's EFI loom. Easier would be to use aftermarket injection, which comes with it's own loom and will get you far better results anyway.
If you're going turbo, don't piss around with carbs... |
