I bought this ecu and got it cheap but have no idea what brand/ what the chip is knight sports maybe? It has a switch on it and it doesn't allow it to be opened far enought to see well inside. But the chip does look to be re soldered also the switch goes between the pin out on the chip and the solder point in the circuit bored the third wire goes to a second smaller chip. It has a sticker that says KS-ROM and a sticker with lots of Japanese writing...don't have pictures till I get home

I think we have one of those here too but don't have any info.

RW-7 Mar 30, 2013 01:06 AM

My guess would be Knight Sports.

j-roberts22 Mar 30, 2013 06:44 AM

It had a bunch of Japanese writing on it unfortunatly I don't read Japanese.

misterstyx69 Mar 30, 2013 09:56 AM

If you try the Knight Sports website,it should have Numbers that correspond to the Chip inside to give you an idea of what mods are required to run that Ecu.
Google translator.

Isn't a Knight Sports ecu still going to be an N374 or whatever the JDM equivalent of a S4 JDM ECU? Meaning you are still going to have all the issues discussed in other threads about trying to run a JDM ECU with USDM wiring?

gregs22 Mar 30, 2013 12:22 PM

More detailed pictures of the ecu would be really helpful, if it a s4 ECU then only a car equipped with a RHD S4 harness would be able to use this with no trouble, I would fall into that category. I'm either going to try and source a s4 modified JDM/EDM ecu or modify a US s4 wire harness so I can use a Rtek or something similar

that doesn't look like a knightsports logo to me, maybe K sports?

RotaryEvolution Mar 30, 2013 02:17 PM

if it is it's probably really old.

Mitsubishi is a huge company made from hundreds of smaller companies that makes everything from electronic components, tv's, heavy equipment as well as cars. They even have life insurance and a brewery. Lol

Don't jump to conclusions with that logo just yet!

j-roberts22 Mar 31, 2013 07:09 PM

Well I just posted pictures more so people could see the wiring and the resoldered chip

Ok, i think i should reply to this cuz no one seem to know.

KSrom does the kind of update which improves the mpg of the car, yep, mpg. They also claim that their power level is somewhat above stock(better respond)

Ksrom does a lot of roms for different cars. They have been around forever.

I also have a n374 ecu in my car has KS Engineering stickers all over it, and japanese directions taped on it.

I will snap pics tomorrow i hit 12psi, .9 bar and with wide open exhaust 15psi, without a boost controller so i know its tuned at least but thats as far as my info goes on it...

drift13b88 Sep 11, 2013 08:24 AM

Nvr mind i also have a KS ROM not ks engineering like the past owner called it :facepalm1:

Website of KS ROM

Apparently, ROM stands for chipped ECU, and many people would think that KS-ROM would be Knight Sports, but that isnt correct. I found the website and product details https://bccweb.bai.ne.jp/ksrom/

cheers
