What coilovers (still in production) are people running in 2018?
Hello all,
Recently got back into RX-7 ownership, I need to get it back on the road and need to replace all the shocks. So naturally I'm thinking about coilovers. Back when I last had one Tein Street were easy to come across and the peoples choice but I can't seem to find them now days. I've done a lot of reading through (and searching) the forum but discussions seem to be quite out of date for the FC. So I was hoping you friendly lot would share your experience on what coilovers people are putting on their FC's currently in production. I'd like to spend around $1,000 (well I'd like to spend half that, but I'm being realistic), I see the following touted about most regularly: Stance X1 BC racing Megan Ksport You all know what's out there... So what's everyone currently running, what's recommended and what's best avoided? Penny for your thoughts. Ben |

ive got bc coilovers in mine and they're great, not bouncy at all.

Stance coilovers are the best I've had on any of my cars. Would definitely recommend. Good for drifting, racing, comfort, anything you wanna use them for.

I have a custom fabricated set of bilsteins because there aren't very many good choices for FCs....

i bought a set of used Teins, and had them rebuilt, the valving could be better, but at least they have valving.
i'd stay away from the megan/bc racing stuff, its junk |

+1 for Ground Control. I just went through the same thing. Mines a weekend toy that does get tracked sometimes. I've seen lesser brand strut housings break on track at Sebring and don't want to experience that my car.

I ran JIC-Magic FLT-A2's for a few racing seasons. I was happy with the support I received -- had them rebuilt twice (once under warranty). They were quite stiff on the street, but that's a matter of driver preference. No longer in production, but ZMS will still support them to an extent. I talked to Jon @ ZMS about a year ago and replaced all four dampers. Single-adjustable front & rear. Here is a set for sale at a very good price:

They were expensive and provided insufficient damping; took them off almost as soon as I installed them. If you had the money, I would have Tony @ AWR build you a set of "ITS coilovers" for FC. Choice of Bilsteins or Konis for dampers; your choice of Hypercoil spring rates. Compression & rebound adjustable in the front, rebound adjustable in the rear. Excellent damping with minimal oscillation and they were quite comfortable on the street as well. Unlike with most sets I've tried, there was a very noticeable difference in feel and handling between max soft and max firm. Some assembly required. My second choice -- plug'n'play -- would have been the Ground Control "Super Street Kit" for FC. However, I never tried them before I retired my FC3S chassis from racing. Your choice of Eibach spring rates. Single-adjustable front & rear. |

Last time I sent someone that direction, it ended up being fairly pricey. That and AWR seems to be all but completely out of the rx7 game.
