What clutch's are you guys using?
Hey guys Im using an act stage 3 right now but it has been shot since i recieved it. The engine was left outside iwhen pulled form the car (not by me) and it got rusted to shit. Anyway its finally truely dying on me and I wanna order another similar kit but im unsure of what to get.
SO what are you all using? I know I like the crispy feel of the stage 3 but I am completely clueless when it coms to other shit like sprung and unsprung, 4 puck, 6 puck. I know the term i know whats considered better but i technically know nothing. Also I am planning on swapping to a TII driveline in a few months, will I be able to keep this clutch set-up? |
I just want to correct myself. I was told by the previous owner that I ahd an ACT stage 3, but now that im browsing for new one im seeing that he was most likely lying. The clutch in my car looks exactly like a XTD.

The XTD pressure plate has a higher leverage spring, so it has more clamping force without more pedal pressure.
I am using one with a 6 puck copper ceramic spring disc. Combined with an ACT street light flywheel & a short shifter, it makes a sweet package. No more missed 3rd gear shifts! |
I'm looking for the same answer. Once I had my engine rebuild I've installed so called OEM clutch in it. It feels really smooth, but then once i broke in my engine the clutch kept occasionally slipping when I dumped it into second (frustratin). Then I tryied doing burnout and roasted it (even more frustrating). Now it feels real spongy. Are OEM clutches really that crappy? I have an almost stock TII so I'm not putting out any crazy hp amounts. I can't believe clutch's got about 5 k on it and it's toast.

Did the new clutch include a rebuilt pressure plate? Once the flywheel or PP gets burned, the clutch will loose max torque handling real fast. |
