What causes power steering to turn off sometimes?
Twice, when I have been racing and a few times in a parking lot it has happened; I go to move the wheel and it is hard to move. Then after one second the power steering turns on and I end up jerking the wheel to far.
I am reading through the power steering manual http://208.62.166.66:82/guest/shop_m...aining_manual/ and was wondering if any one has sorted through this problem and found out what was wromg. There are so many components in the system I would like to save sometime figuring it out if someone could help me. |

I have heard of power steering with speed sensor.
I have noticed on mine that sometimes it is stiffer, usually higher RPM or moving faster. Then when I slow down, it becomes easier to move. I am pretty sure it has to do with power steering assist. Hopefully you can figure it out. :) |
Don't the S5s turn off the power steering when the steering wheel is inside 15deg from center for a while?

When I put an aftermarket wheel on my s4 the powersteering didnt work, but I put the stock back on and it worked. Weird.

Mine did that too, it seems to be a problem with the S5's turning fast at low speed. My fix worked perfectly, I took out the power steering and it's never given me a problem since!

I have a 1991 convertible. The system has several different electronic motors and valves on it. Check out the previous link and look under steering. No wonder the thing does not work right.
