what block off plates do i need?
 

im planning on getting the racing beat turbo back for my 88 tII...or thunder fabrications dp..and some catback..either way i kno i need some block off polates correct? is the air pump the only one?...could i just get a list of which ones i need..so i can get them before i install my exhaust..thanks a lot././.i tried tio search but couldnt find a simple answer

Why would you need block off plates?

The Airpump is connected to the engine Via a Bracket.. the only block off plate i could think of (maybe the one your talking about)

would be for the Air control Valve, you can get it from www.mazdatrix.com under the exhaust section for around 10$

Other than that unless you are going to remove your EGR valve, and maybe your BAC valve. BUT you dont NEED to remove any of that stuff when you install your exhaust, the equipment just becomes non functional

wait a second here guys... he's doing exhaust... That doesn't effect any of those emissions. The acv is for the air pump. egr is for recirculating exhaust gases back into the engine (really shitty!). I'm honestly not sure about what the bac valve does, but none of those are effected by getting your exhaust upgraded.

I kind of have the same question...I recently adquired a "downpipe"(?) or "straight pipe"(?), anyway, it connects from exhaust manifold to the Y pipe, but there is no place for the narrow pipe that connects to the cat to bolt on. What steps must I perform to install this pipe? Do I need block off plates? I have several mods here that I have not installed...

I got a racing beat presilencer/race pipe whatever recently installed on my car too.. but I do have a spot for that litto pipe....

Yes. If you are simply adding an exhaust downpipe and new catback, the only block off plate you may need is for the split air pipe. On you intake manifold, next to one of the hard coolant lines for the turbo, there is a hose that connects to a metal line that connects to you cat. If you are no longer going to use that air line, you need to put a block off plate on the intake manifold. K2RD is a fine spot to find this.

If you want to remove the EGR, BAC, and ACV valves, then you would need to block those off as well. There is really no need to though unless you want less clutter, worse emissions, and a car that is harder to get to idle properly.

Here is the simple answer:

You don't need any block off plates.

When you put on the RB turbo back or go with any catless dp/mp and a catback you're voiding virtually all of the emissions systems. If you just leave the split air pipe disconnected, it's not a vacuum leak and won't hurt the engine at all. The airpump will simply be blowin air underneath the car via half of the split air pipe into nothing.

If you do want to start removing the emissions:

ACV block off
EGR block off

those are pretty much the only things you'll need for block off plates.

When you take off the airpump, you'll then take off the ACV and then you can put the block off plate there. When do put the ACV block off on, you'll need to use another nipple on the block for boost/vacuum reading. I have all mine tied into a nipple near the BAC valve on the back corner of the engine facing the passenger side seat of the car.

The EGR block off you just take the two nuts holding the EGR on and put back on the EGR block off. There are then a few vacuum lines you can start capping off, just as there are a few vacuum lines you can cap off when you take the ACV off.

But in the end, you don't have to do any of that if you don't want to. There is very little if any power gain, rather it just cleans up the engine bay tremendously and makes working on the car easier.

would anyone be able to post a pic of the air control valve on the car . i have full r/b exaust on 88t2 just got block off plate ,still looking at intake sratching my head .i also have already removed the air pump and recirculated the line . got 5lbs out of it
