what is the best eBay turbo and intercooler kit

The greddy knockoff IC's are alright, but any of the 'budget' turbos are absolute junk.

I might not know much about rotaries, but I can build a good turbo car. Stay away from fleabay turbos. They will never last. You think you can take an $1800 piece and make it out of cheap parts and let it reach insane temps and spin insane rpm's and it will last? Nope. You'll end up spending more money buying and rebuying that crap. Save yourself the hard lesson and buy a good brand name turbo.

If you want budget, I recommend looking into a BNR hybrid turbo. It will set you back almost $1000, but you can retain your stock manifold, intercooler, etc. if you want. Obviously you will still need fuel management.

HIMNI has some good quality looking kits, for a larger wallet.

I don't trust any product that is an eGay no-name brand.

one local was running a CX racing GT45 knockoff, made 400whp@14psi with a rag stuffed in the intercooler piping. ran that turbo for about 6 months and i don't think it ever quit. it did wind up eating a motor plus one faulty rebuild, the original engine i would suspect died due to the tune being done with the rag in the intake and the tune was insufficient when it was removed(tune was also done by an inexperienced rotary tuner, was his first rotary tune as well as experience with haltech), second engine failed from a missing oil pump key that spun the gear on the freeway and cooked the engine from oil starvation. as far as i know that turbo was still ok after all that.

i was rather impressed as the turbo spooled decently too. would it last as long as a real garrett? i doubt it, but it is 1/4 the price so.. would i recommend it? unless you rebuild motors on your own i wouldn't. compressor material going through an engine is as bad as losing an apex seal.

then again i did have one brand spanking new Garrett GT3574R ball bearing turbo fail within 1000 miles, they tried to blame it on fuel dilluted oil but the oil was never thinned out that much. even the best turbos aren't guaranteed to be 100%, that turbo always made strange noises right out of the box(sounded like a bad wheel bearing when you shut the engine down and the turbo was spooling off)...

Those gt45 knock offs are solid. As long as it is the 1.05 a/r hotside i've heard of no failures. There's apparently two models out there, and the other isn't very reliable.

This is something I might be interested in. Could build a cheap turbo system for the engine in my car that I have no idea about. It runs. And it runs good. That's all I know about it lol. Wouldn't mind throwing one of these on there if the feedback is good. Please keep this thread going.

Ps op, I hate the saying but unless you can build and fabricate, you have to pay to Play. I just try to make as much as I can or find deals to not have to pay as much. If you have patience look in the classifieds and find someone getting out of the game for a good deal.

BW turbos are cheap(but still quality) so i doubt they are knockoffs.

considering what you get i almost couldn't believe what you could get from BW for $700 for a precision tuned chunk of 50 lb metal capable of 1000whp(S475). for that price you get a turbo almost as big as your engine.

contact Bullseye turbos for Borg Warner turbos and they also have additional options for them.

So far I have only ordered a turbo oil line from them. Shipping time was normal. I plan to order a few nuts and bolts from them maybe this week.

I have heard on the forum from some people said the shipping of their purchased turbo kit took forever. I believe this is because they are made to order.? It might be best to call them before ordering something like that.

Just whatever intercooler you end up with, make sure it has internal finning! I've seen plenty of eBay intercooler cores that don't have any at all. You can look straight through them!
