What is this?

I'm in the process of swaping in a new transmission. This was bolted to the slave cylinder and was plugged into the harness. I didn't see it and the wire pulled out. What is it and what does it do?

it usually gets grounded to the tranny i believe, im not sure what its for though

djmtsu 08-26-07 03:27 PM

I thought it did something to help the thing that its attached to do its job correctly. Maybe I'm wrong though.

:)

Sorry I couldn't help.

Although, on mine, its bolted though one of the bellhousing bolts, not the slave cylinder.

it is a oil pressure signal regulator if I remember correctly ... I dont use mine but I have also blew 3 stock oil pressure gauges.... :P

It is a capacitor for the oil pressure gauge. It evens out the signal going to the gauge and prevents the gauge from being harmed if the sensor or wiring goes bad.

Sideways 7 has it right

LOL found mine dangling behind the starter lol! Yeah, Capacitor for oil gauge. grounds to motor :)

djmtsu 08-26-07 04:01 PM

Lol, so maybe that was my problem.

We accidently dented my sending unit when we put the motor in. Gauge pegged out until it broke internally. When I was installing my Autometer sending unit, I noticed that we forgot to ground the capacitor (it was just hanging there but the starter).

Whoops!!

Ok thanks for the help. The wire broke flush with the capasitor so I soldered a peice of solid wire to it and the plug to the solid wire. I hope it works otherwise i'll be taking a trip to mazad tomorrow.
