Went into Chilis and came back out WTF?!?!

I came out got in. And then was shifting into reverse. It felt real catchy, gummy when i was moving it around. And when i started driving it was sticky still. Whats wrong??? IM thinking its the oil level but i just filled that awhile ago. I dont know whats up with it. Its sticky and gummy even when its sitting still with the car off.
help??

maybe you spilled some soda on it or something?

your shifter bushing has probably broken into pieces and is wedged in the shifter housing. pull it apart and replace the shifter bushings and clean out the shifter housing.

haha...does it matter which chili's it was...?

haha maybe you shouldnt drive around there. it makes my shifter sticky too

is the shifter itself sticking...or does it feel like its inside the transmission...sounds like low tranny fluid. hopefully nothing got damaged

Camrann 07-23-05 04:59 PM

its inside the transmission. I dont know how something could have been damaged. Cause I went in and it was fine. I came out and it wasnt....

Camrann 07-23-05 06:44 PM

WOW, put more oil in and worked GREAT. THANks for the help guys!!!

RotaryEvolution 07-23-05 07:56 PM

i was gonna say, it's gotta be in the shifter. you don't want to know what the other repair possibility would be..

I would have to agree. Does it feel like you're trying to shift through sludge or just slightly weird. My N/A trans when it went felt like I was shifting through mud, and then I went to take off from a stop sign, let out the clutch, hear a slight *clunk* and the part that attaches the 1-2 gear synchro sleeve to the input shaft just seperated at the point where it flares out and splines to the input shaft. Bad times, my friend. Mine also felt like that through all the gears, too, IIRC. :( Good news, though, you will have the gear set(s) usable to drive home on if that lets go. Just don't stop, NO MATTER WHAT, when driving home in 3rd gear. poor clutch...

I feel your pain. I just did what any smart FC owner would do, though. I found a cheap JSpec TII trans and starter, got a RB steel flywheel, Mazdatrix driveshaft, and away we went! Faster, too, with the loss of excess weight of the wallet, too:(
