Follow the wiring diagram. You may have a blown fuse somewhere or a ground that's not grounded or wires that aren't connected.

ok thank will try that.

Spike86Rx7 Nov 4, 2007 12:21 AM

ok i jut went out there and had a look at all my fuses but non seem to be blown and i dont think it is a wiring problem b/c i went over all the wiring when i put the motor in.

HAILERS Nov 4, 2007 03:37 PM

IF the headlights come on, then your problem is a blown Main fuse. It's in the middle and held in with two 10mm socket size bolts.

It's easy to prove. Put a meter on the alternators large output terminal with the key on or off. Matters not. Should read batt voltage there on that large terminal. No batt voltage means the Main fuse is gone.

Bad battery or bad main fuse.

TehMonkay Nov 4, 2007 03:43 PM

wait, if you hold the key in one certain spot it will go beep beep?

could it possibly be a bad ignition switch then, thats what i would guess.

sounds like a dead or disconnected battery.

But I would hope that before he posted that he check the battery at very least.

And the bump has been deleted . Bumps are forbidden here in the 2nd gen RX-7 technical section

well i have changed the ignition switch so i know its no that. not realy sure on the 80a fuse (main fuse) top looks good no split on it. and i dont think its the batt. (Optima Red top).

dont rule a red top out, they still go bad too. CHECK THEM! check the alternator too, like HAILERS recommended.

Spike86Rx7 Nov 5, 2007 05:06 AM

thanks, i will be sure to check the voltage on the batt and, what should be the voltage at the alt. or woul dit be easier to go and get it tested.

The point of testing the alternator was to determine if the main fuse was blown, if it reads anything then the fuse should be ok. But if the battery is healthy it should read upwards of 12v

Spike86Rx7 Nov 5, 2007 05:19 AM

ok thanks. will test after it starts to get light outside.

no sleep for you either huh? haha. make sure to check the connections to the battery too, that they are both tight with solid contact.
