Weird A/C Drier issue
Bought a new drier off rockauto to get the A/C system in my '90 GXL working again. Part number was FOUR SEASONS 33403. The Mazda A/C male tube orifice is maybe 1mm too large to slip into the female end of the a/c drier.
I know the S4/S5 A/C systems are not compatible, but Four Seasons doesn't list different part numbers for the different years. Should I just drop the cash for a real Mazda Drier or is there a correct aftermarket part that works fine? |
It's not an S4-S5 incompatibility, it's a Denso vs Sanden incompatibility. There is basically two different driers for the two different systems. The parts catalogs are all inaccurate.
One drier has the bracket welded to the drier bottle. The other drier has a clamp that mounts to the car and the drier bottle slides out when you unclamp it. Clamp remains on the car. I recommend buying a drier local while holding your old one for comparison. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...33a9d5f775.jpg Drier with bracket. I have a sanden compressor. I'm guessing the rockauto spectra part is for denso. Which is the one that does not fit my sanden compressor system. Unfortunately I do not have the OEM drier. It did not come with the car.
