weight of flywheel? wtf?

But when i got my flywheel in the mail (stock) that i used for my 5 speed swap it sure as hell was heavier than 17 lbs. Whats going on?

And then it says the stock flywheel weighs 22 lbs here.
What the hell? Come to think of it, i think mine was 30 something lbs.

did you get the flywheel with the counter weights?

I didnt purchase an aftermarket one yet. I didn't think the stock one needed a counterweight

i'm pretty sure they all come with counterweights?

oh ok, well anyways. why does racing beat say the stock flywheel is 2 different weights?

one for turbo and one for n/a?

You miss read there info. This is off the racing beat web site.

They have a steel one that is 17lbs and an aluminum one that is 12lbs, but I don't see anywhere that says the stock one is 17lbs. Different years of stock flywheels weigh different amounts. See the chart at mazdatrix. http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/flywheel.htm

Under every other flywheel they list (stock N/A, TII, S4 and S5) they show the correct weight. Looks like someone fat-fingered the keyboard when they typed that up.
