Is the water thermo sensor the same as the water temperature sensor?

lupin 04-02-08 09:32 PM

It cost me $40 from autozone

lm0812 04-02-08 10:54 PM

You're talking about the sensor behind the waterpump right? After shipping I believe mine was under $40. It increased my mileage by 2mpg.

PepBoys has a one for $28, BogWarner or something like that...

what about that little guy that plugs into the lower driver's side of the radiator. I have the copper part, but what about the plug? Is that the same thing?

They are "not" the same thing. The water temp sensor is a more vital part with respect to proper operation of the engine while the "thermo sensor" is a part used in the accelerated warm up which the engine goes through when the radiator fluid is at or above 60 degrees or so. Most would recommend the 3000 rpm warm up is not beneficial to the engines health and should be disconnected. There are at least two quick methods in doing so. One involves disconnecting the plug at the radiator and jumping the two points in the plug using a single wire.

i have a couple used ones in good shape...if interested PM me.

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with the 3000 rpm AWS.

driftingmyFC 04-03-08 12:27 PM

I'll just get this one

I like that red one. Will that work on a TII?

Is this what I would hook a new autometer water temp gauge up to?
