I have a neighbor that has a 87 gxl which has a 13b motor that he just inheireted from an older couple and when started it is using up coolant water and spitting it out the exhaust pipe but has no milkyness on the dipstick. what could be the problem..... me noob......

sure that it is coolant? and not just steam from the exhaust?

Just because the water jacket broke doesn't mean it's going to leak into the oil supply.
In fact, the water jacket will break on the inside, and this will lead to the combustion chamber...
If it's sucking coolant in significant amounts, the motor needs to be rebuilt.
Count on replacing at least one of the side irons.
If you're not willing to sink at least another $2,000 into it, tell em to just throw it away.

On that note Ted, let me ask you. I have a similar problem with my 89 GTU. I can be driving and the temperature will take off and shoot almost up to boiling (which is hot, because the gauge is innacurate) and then I will smell antifreezeabout 30 seconds later, and the minute I smell antifreeze I can look at the temp gauge and watch it immediately drop down to normal temp. I think my water jacket is busted, but I am blowing exhaust into the coolant side, as opposed to blowing coolant into the exhaust side. What are your thoughts?
