That's not water. Its gasoline. That's why it feels and tastes oily.

Its coming from your pulsation dampner. Replace the pulsation dampner before your car catches on fire.

ericiscool 01-11-05 05:33 PM

that is your pulsatin damper are you suer its not leaking gas?

HeffBoost 01-11-05 05:33 PM

That sure looks like a PD pulsation damper to me. And that wouldn't water, that'd be fuel. I wouldn't drive that thing w/o an industrial size fire extinguisher if I were you.

vincentwashere 01-11-05 05:46 PM

oh shit. where do i buy a pd pulsation? is it hard to change it?

Mazda or mazda parts supplier.
It is not hard to change: the search function will tell you exactly what you need to know, as will the threads located in the STICKIES above.

Please search before asking a question next time. Chances are, it has already been answered.

The best price I found was with these guys. S4 turbo part# JE27-20-180.

vincentwashere 01-11-05 06:03 PM

thanks heff. good thing i saw it. or i woulda had a burned down 7

vincentwashere 01-11-05 06:41 PM

sorry but would i have to buy the whole pulsation damper or can i just buy the inner and outter seals

slpin 01-11-05 07:02 PM

i dont know... but
would it be good to save a dollar or two to have your car burnt down?

HeffBoost 01-11-05 07:05 PM

Yeah, you need the $100+ part. The diaphram inside the PD has been compromised. It's not a bad idea to have new copper washers as well.

DJChunter 01-11-05 08:31 PM

or you can replace it with a banjo bolt(like $10) i believe its a 10mmx1.25 or you can do what i did and buy a S5 n/a primary fuel rail.. I got mine from a guy off this site for like $20shipped..

umm i read on fc3s pro to buy the "earl banjo fitting" will that fix it? i dont really want to pay 100 dollars. i mean its not a daily driver or anything. i really havent driven it much, its just been sitting at my autoshop in school

Syonyk 01-12-05 01:00 AM

... how the heck do you mistake gasoline for oily water? It sort of has a distinctive smell... (and is one of the various odors responsible for me being told I "smell like car" semi-regularly).

If you want, I have a S4 NA pulsation damper for sale, cheap. It has a few years on it, but it'll be fine for a good long time.

jacobcartmill 01-12-05 01:15 AM

how does that gasoline taste?

HeffBoost 01-12-05 05:05 AM

Don't do it. The factory put it there for a reason.

Do a search. I'll bet there's a crapload of threads on the whole debate.

It's funny how there are some things that the community is just divided on. Have been, will be. Just have to agree to disagree I guess.

Tofuball 01-12-05 07:57 AM

I highly reccomend the banjo bolt. I put it on my (now) daily driver GXL. No problems at all, runs great, healthy, happy :)

Gasoline doesn't really taste all that bad, not neraly as much as one would expect. Its actually kinda bland, not nearly as bad as some of the shots of booze I've drank in my lifetime.

Gasoline in the eyes doesn't really sting like you think it would either... it kinda feels like itching.

My experiences with gasoline in tasting/in eyehave been purely accidental, gained from when I worked in an oil change as a teenager and would change fuel filters on cars without being able to depressurize the system.

Whatever. I thought I was going blind.

scathcart 01-12-05 06:08 PM

Its no worse than any allergies...

Now metal sliver in the eye... that hurts.

DerangedHermit 01-12-05 06:36 PM
