Waste Gate Nipple Popped Out of the Turbo
What would be best to use for sealing it back in? I'm lucky when it did pop out it created a big enough boost leak so that I didn't over boost.

This is a stock wastegate actuator?
They are crimped sealed along the edge. Never heard of one popping out before. Best bet is to probably just replace it since they are easy to find and cheap. |
stock S5 turbo. The nipple was a little loose. I could spin it until it got hard to turn. I figured it sealed upon boost from the back.
I don't know where to take the fitting to. The hose shops around here a pretty worthless when it comes to helping non commercial customers. |
i say jb it

the nipple is pressed on...
you could thread the hole and use a regular screw-on fitting. if not, you can kinda squeeze it a little so it is a bit out of round, and then hammer it back as far as you can.... dont turn it while you do that... |

Yeah, I just got that...
I would still just replace it. |
I've had several pop off--which can be bad. They have a tendency to get loose from being "spun" around for aftermarket boost-controllers and such.
Just push it in, make sure you've got it at the right angle, and then lightly tap on it with a hammer. I've done this on several "stock" turbo setups with no problems afterwards. This happened 3 or 4 times on my old hybrid turbo setup before I decided to teach it a lesson. :) |
