Warning Buzzer
 

Just curious, anybody know where the RPM warning buzzer comes from? Seems like mine is not working or not there. I have a 89 GTUS.....all the models had warning buzzers, correct?

The buzzer is behind the instrument cluster. You should ear it for 3 reasons only: low oil, low coolant and redlining. All FC's have it.

So the buzzer comes from behind the cluster and not from the cluster, correct?

It's on the back of the instrument cluster. Take it out, turn it around and you'll see it. :)

which would cause this buzzer to come on when you take a hard turn, and also if you hit a bump in the road? low oil pressure? electrical short?both of these are happening in my car and driving me insane. it acts like a G force indicator, basically.

the oil pressure guage doesnt indicate its low however so i dont think its starving for oil in the turns, i mean it goes off immediately as soon as you start to turn, nor would any of the other legit reasons for the buzzer go off appear to exist. WTF. if its impossible to fix how do you just disconnect it?

The warning buzzer is for redline, low coolant level and low oil level. Top up your oil immedieately!

You do understand a rotary engine consumes oil by design right? It must be checked and topped up regularly.

with the car sitting there cold, oil is half between full and empty, the radiator is full if you take the cap off, but the coolant tank connected to the radiator is totally empty. could this be causing it? theres no sensor directly connected to the overflow tank..

The coolant level sensor is in the top of the radiator. It has a little brown/black wire running from it. Make sure it is in all the way and that your coolant is full.

There is a sensor on the drivers side of the oil pan that is used for the oil level. Make sure the connections are good and clean. Make sure your oil is full.

If both are full and you still get the buzzer, put on your gremlin chasing suit. The electrical mishaps of old cars are fun. Little buggers.

Most gremlins in a FC sit behind the steering wheel while the car is on the road.

So top it up and see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't then you probably have a loose wire somewhere or a flakey coolent or oil level sensor.

Nope, only the radiator level triggers the warning.
