Warmup question
 

Ok, I have a very simple question that I haven't found on these boards. So here it goes.

When I start my car in the morning I driver her like a baby until she is fully warmed up. I could have SWORN that I read somewhere that it is extremely bad to boost / rev a cold rotary. I also read this is a good reason for coolant seal failure because of the different expansion rates or iron and aluminum that cause the engine to expose the seals to the combustion chamber during warmup. I have personally followed theis rule like the eleventh commandment. But.......

I have seen a few people whore out their redline on cold engines and get away clean with no blown seals. Now that confused me, and where a rotary is concerned, that is hard to do. So.... does anyone know how long to wait before you can ream on the motor?

I believe the accelerated warm up system incorporates linkeage that won't allow wide open throttle until operating temp is achieved.
You're prcedure is fine, as it will prevent premature wear, and by driving the engine will warm up quicker, and will actually help stem any increased acid/particulate formations.

well the cars do come from factory expected that there will be drivers who wont warm up there car at all and put the foot down as soon as they start it, mind you these cars dont tend to last as long as those who let their car warm up before giving it a boot full, I like too let my car idle for a few minutes when it is dead cold then take it easy till its reached full temperature and that seems to be the cold start up method of everyone I talk too
