I just got my complete engine and all the goodies
I was wondering how much hp this set up will give me
this is a complete built and tuned jdm engine
this is what i can see it has
the engine is a S5 TII
Garrett a/r 60 turbo (i'm thinking its a GT28RS)
3" down pipe
2.5 FMIC piping with 2 red topfeed injectors in it
and the ecu is tuned by a performance shop in japan
i won't know if it has any port work on it till i can fire it up

theres also 2 injectors on the top of the manifold
the bungs are welded on
all together it has 8 injectors

sorry aaron gotta add one more thing
checkin it all out the engine and ECU is built and tuned Tom's Racing in japan
it sais on the sticker its a toyota racing place

initial D is REAL! 05-17-07 10:38 PM

put it on a dyno and find out. I was holding off on dyno tuning because I didnt have enough money, Now my engine is blown

Boosted11 05-17-07 10:46 PM

^^ What initial D said, get it on the dyno. They might be expensive but there well worth it.

20 bajillion horsepower!

seriously, no one can tell you until it is dynoed. there's no specifics on porting or turbo trims.

FC3Sdrift 05-17-07 11:09 PM

i just got the motor yesterday the dyno is the first place i'm goin when i get'er in
its only 15 min drive from my house and pretty cheap
i dunno if it will be super rich with the 4 extra fuel injectors i want to run it exactly how is set up right now
I just am trying to figure out roughly how much hp to expect so i can build the car up accodingly

its a sweet set up
the engine is built and tuned by Tom's Racing in japan

heres the engine ....i bought my KL-ZE from them and its a solid motor ....i'vebee beatin the hell outa it for 2 years now

well the snail on the turbo looks like a .68 A/R hotside for hillclimbs/drift and the compressor wheel size looks rather small, personally i wouldn't expect to see much more if anything higher than 300WHP but it should spool pretty quick.

FC3Sdrift 05-18-07 01:59 PM

its way biggerthan ar 68 hotside... ill find oute specs tonight tonight
i have a a/r63 hot side and a a/r 50 cold to4e turbo thats tiny compared to the garrett
the exhaust side on the garrett would be closer a/r 1.0 the coldside is an a/r 60
it should have no problems pushing 18-20psi

mmmm, no. That exhaust housing looks to be a similar size to the stock S5 Turbo. If it wasn't for the missing coolant inlets I'd almost think it was a hybrid. I'd say max its a .82..................MAX!!

Also, the inlet on that turbo looks to be about 2.5"? And the taper down the inlet to the inducer looks pretty steep. Probably has close to a 2" inducer.....so Karack would be accurate with a 300whp peak guess. At least, very close. Its certainly not a 350-400hp turbo - not a chance.

And I hate these J-spec engines with tuned/locked ECU's. If you change one thing on that engine you're going to have a recipe for disaster unless you redo EVERYTHING and run a standalone.

18+ psi will be a blow dryer.

the comp. housing look like the turbo coupe thunderbird(super 60 trim)
but thats just me.

and if you think that its a gt28rs then you better get rid of it, thatsa to small. gt 28 = t-2 exhaust flange witch means youll be spooling at idle almost.

FC3Sdrift 05-18-07 09:28 PM

just for size comparison thats a 3" downpipe on that the stock turbo in't thatbig
