Thats load of BS for $15.99

MattB 04-21-06 01:00 PM

thats a lot of BS for 16 bucks...BUY IT!

It works wonder for creating an intake restriction to slightly lower horsepower, so that probably leads to a slight increase in milage (maybe). Basically it's all BS. These things (like the Turbonator) are all a scam to get your money. If it was so easy to get the power and performance gains why wouldn't every car come with them from the factory, especially seeing as they're so cheap?

tripleJ 04-21-06 01:31 PM

best bet... make one yourself and note all these amazing HP gains

Syonyk 04-21-06 01:32 PM

Ooooh... I didn't think about that method of "increased mileage" - can I sell a restrictor plate for FCs that "Improves fuel economy by 30%*" for $40? :D

Funniest looking rotary I've ever seen :)

snowball 04-21-06 02:23 PM

so much BS for so little money its a steal.

Nihilanthic 04-21-06 02:25 PM

Its a restriction, and utterly useless. The only thing you want to 'swirl' in any engine is in the combustion chamber. Those fins will add turbulence with those sharp edges, messing up flow.

Juiceh 04-21-06 02:35 PM

Does this even help on a piston engine? A friend of mine put one in their honda and they swear that its has more "pep." I told her shes an idiot and that she just wasted some money for no gain and a possible decrease.

There have been multiple threads about these I think and I believe it was proven to cause power loss on a rotary.

(sorry, just had to :D)

JMY952 04-21-06 05:28 PM

I'm surprised the seller doesn't get bad-feedbacks....

Black91n/a 04-21-06 05:57 PM

People see what they want to see, hear what they want to hear and feel what they want to feel. If they "know" that this product will make the car faster, then they'll think it's true, even if it's not. That's the power of perception, and why instrumented tests are invaluable.

It won't make any difference with piston vs. rotary for how it performs, it's still a restriction.

NOPR 04-21-06 05:58 PM

i cant believe no one has just freakin dyno'd it already. I mean if i had a dyno layin around i could use for free i'd try it just to prove it wrong once and for all. I'd also dyno one of those fuel rail magnets haha

Turbo II 04-21-06 06:01 PM

Imma gonna get that and one of them there electric fan turbo kits and a chip upgrade and.....
some stickers.

coxxoc 04-21-06 09:57 PM

dude you would be totally missing out if you didnt get an electric bov too! Maybe while your at it you can get the machine gun mufflers!

SexInDaRex 04-21-06 10:42 PM

I thought it would restict myself but I have heard from so many others that that they work but then the other half say it is a waste. I just wondered. I guess it is supposed to push the air with some force through the intake pipe and into the throttle body. Forcing air into the throttle body would increase horse power correct?

Icemark 04-21-06 10:45 PM

Thread closed... covered over and over and over.

Proven with dyno testing here and at Popular science to be nothing but a hinderance in making power.
