Very simple 2nd gen Turbo II Question
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the readings are for the stock boost gauge on the 2nd gen Turbo 2. Im pretty sure vac is in mmHg but anyone who could help me thatd be great. The reason is because I recently test drove a T2 and will bring a boost guage later, but it didnt seem like the turbo was spooling much . Anyone know can help on what kind of readings the stock guage should get PLEASE help.

Hey there Rx-7Addict! Small world, I was raised in Cleveland. Lived on the East side. You an East Sider or West Sider???
You didn't say what year TII you test drove. So, I will give you the conversion figures. If you let us know the readings in psi and what year the TII was, we can let you know what is normal and what is low. Here they are. The boost guage reads out in units of millimeters of mercury. We like to see our pressure readout in psi (pounds/square inch). The conversion factor is .1934. Crunching thru the figures, we get: 5 = 1.0 psi 10 = 1.9 psi 15 = 2.9 psi 20 = 3.9 psi 25 = 4.8 psi 30 = 5.8 psi 35 = 6.8 psi 40 = 7.7 psi On my boost guage (when the fool thing decides not to stick at -20!), I get a reading (max) of 35 in first and second, with it creeping up to 40 in third. I put a boost test guage on the car, and it read 7.0 psi in first and second, and a little over 7.5 in third. So, you see, it corresponds very well. Hope this helps! :D Irv, Keith's dad |
Thanks a lot Irv. I'm from the west side, actually about 30 miles west so its not really considered cleveland. Thanks for all the help. I think Im going to bring a boost guage other than the stock one to get a good feel for what its making. Its kind of hard to tell by my seat of the pants..
Thanks again |
