Very rich between 5 and 6 in.hg

The car has been doing this for some time, it started doing it out of no where.
Its a S5 turbo car. No matter how much throttle is applied it always runs rich between 5 and 6 in.hg, dropping down to the low 10afr and possibly even lower.

I don't know a thing about Rtek... Is there a way to post your fuel maps? Also, is there a setting for acceleration enrichments?

RotaryRocket88 05-08-12 02:39 PM

If you're on the 720/720 injector setting & haven't messed with any of the vacuum fuel cells, there shouldn't be any reason for it to go that rich.

How long have you had a 20B AFM on the car?

Got a screenshot of a datalog or a .zip file?

Black Knight RX7 FC3S 05-09-12 01:25 AM

Ive had the 20b afm since august of last year.

I will post a datalog of it before I go to work.

No setting for acceleration enrichment, Rtek is pretty basic with features limited by the stock ecu.

It will always run rich in that vacuum range no matter throttle or rpm I am in. I think it started around spring of 2011.

heres the datalog i got

I noticed I forgot to add the log viewer...

http://digitaltuning.com/index.php?pid=utilities
for the rtek7

I am starting to think it might be my tps sensor, around that same time is when I replaced it. Though I am not 100% sure.

AGreen 05-11-12 07:03 PM

Looking at the datalog, it definitely jumps from 15% duty cycle to 20% between 7 and 6"/Hg. I don't suspect your TPS is defective, look at how smooth the transitions are when you pull up the data window. I'm not really a fan of that datalogger, it's pretty basic and limited to what you can/can't do... but it's what we have to work with! Can you post me a pic or a link to the fuel map? Can you just adjust the bins down yourself, or can you only load pre-made fuel maps?

Black Knight RX7 FC3S 05-11-12 10:48 PM

the fuel map allows -37 to + 37% change.
In the area I am having trouble in, I have it all the way down to -37%.

When you look at my fuel map, there isnt a problem with it. You will see why when you see it lol

Mind you, im running a aeromotive stealth 340 pump. Before, I was running a walbro, and it rich area still happens so its not the pump.

What are your injector presets?

Black Knight RX7 FC3S 05-12-12 01:17 AM

720/720

AGreen 05-12-12 07:39 AM

With an Rtek, did they move the secondary injector staging, or is it still 3800?

Black Knight RX7 FC3S 05-12-12 08:34 AM

I havent changed it, its still at stock rpm

RotaryRocket88 05-12-12 11:57 PM

I checked a log of mine where I had some cruising at ~3k RPM & -5 inHg vacuum. The ECU goes into closed loop, and I logged cycling between 14 and 16 AFR (bouncing around stoich.) Injector D/Cs were cycling between 23% and 25% (I have 720cc primaries too on the 720/720 setting).

One of your logs (5/9/12 14:05:33) shows D/Cs at 28-30% for a period of cruising. So that's about 20% higher D/C than I showed under similar conditions. Are you not logging AFR? I didn't see either analog input available, but an estimate from my logged AFRs would put you in the 12s. If you're actually in the 10s, I'd say your fuel pressure has to be higher than stock.

So have you tested fuel pressure since moving to high-flow pumps? Do you have an adjustable FPR?

And how's your stock 02 sensor? It looks like the ECU is trying to meter fuel, but it may not be seeing correct voltage. You won't have any luck making adjustments in the fuel map, since the ECU will just fight any changes you make. Cruise conditions aren't really adjustable unless you stop using an 02 sensor.

Black Knight RX7 FC3S 05-13-12 12:21 AM

The fuel rail is stock with the stock FPR, havent tested the fuel pressure since moving to the 340 pump. The afr is logged, its named as N351 pin 3f.

Narrowband O2 isnt hooked up, but I will try to hook up the narrowband output from the wideband to the ecu O2 input and see if that helps.

RotaryRocket88 05-13-12 01:47 PM

What's N351 pin 3F displaying as? Lambda? If so, the values at the end of the same log are 0.8 to 1.0, which would be 11.8 to 14.7 AFR (time points 25.71 to 30.02).

Black Knight RX7 FC3S 05-13-12 06:57 PM

its displaying as lambda for you?
For me its displayed as AFR.
